I met Chad :iconchadfuller: thru Deviant Art 7 years ago. His art was at a different level than mine, he was doing some pro work and I had just started drawing again after a 6 year layoff. For some reason he took a liking to me and made a point to offer me feed back and critique, always encouraging and helpful. His movie and book reviews are legendary, everyone loved reading up on what he had to say. When he heard we were starting a studio he said he wanted in (which surprised the hell out of me at the time). I remember the first time he colored some of my lines I was on cloud 9.
Everything seemed on track for us to start a big push.

Then we got the news that he had cancer. It was like a punch to the gut, I automatically thought the worst (I never knew anyone with cancer, my panic was unavoidable). Chad was very matter of fact in explaining what was going to happen and what he need to do win. Chad was the coolest dude, he was shaken but not defeated. He battled, he raged and he continued to make art. No excuses, no bullshit, no pity party. Just a dude on a mission to beat cancer.
He had his ups and downs, every victory cut short by a new recurrence. His fight continued, and he wearily kept pushing forward. He was for sure the under dog in this battle but I held hope that he would pull it out.

Talking to him about comics, art and movies was always a highlight. I will miss our conversations and our heated debates (he was a great debater). I'm satisfied in knowing that he was my friend and that he is now at peace.

You will be missed Chad Fuller.

Your Friend.

The idea is to draw a Mandalorian everyday in May. I did this a few years ago and really enjoyed it (although I only got in 17 drawings lol). If anyone is interested in making a run at, please join. Any Mandalorian; Boba, Jango, Pre Vizsla, Walon, Kal, and original characters etc.

Should be fun.

50k contest, WIN prints and original art!!!

Journal Entry: Sun Mar 16, 2014, 5:54 PM
50k CONTEST (WIN PRINTS AND ORIGINAL ART)!!!
Pretty blessed to have had almost 50k visits to my D.A page :D. D.A tells me I have some deviations that have almost 10k views alone..pretty cool imo. I want to thank my watchers and will be giving away
5) 9x12 prints and an original piece of art (roughly 4x6 on card stock). All you have to do is screen capture the 50k visit (or closest to it). You pick the character you want me to draw and then I mail that out along with the prints (free shipping U.S only). Must be a watcher to win.

I know D.A has fallen out of favor with some but I really like this site and think it's been integral to both my growth as an artist and Urban Myth Studios. Just wanted to say thank you and I appreciate the views, comments and favs. :)

Keep it rockin!!!

We're getting attacked by a highly evolved and incredibly powerful alien race of giant cyborg demon frogs that spit acid. Pick a "Dirty Dozen" to battle them on their turf. You can pick characters from any movie, tv show, comic book or cartoon. Who do you pick and why?

Thor (their first victim was Thor-Frog, he's out for revenge).
Zod (he's like superman just more badass)
Ultron (he hates frogs)
Dr Doom (he goes because this world is his to conquer not some damn cyborg frogs).
Green Lantern (John Stewart is a Marine and a Green Lantern, he's a badass)
Vader (the Force will save you, it's like Jesus for heathens...joke)
Grimlock (who doesn't need a transforming t-rex)
Master Chief (he lives to stop alien invasions)
Martian Man-Hunter (communications)
Wonder Woman (two words...invisible jet)
Cable (he's from the freaking future, he knows what's going to happen....and he's a badass)
Vegeta (he's the Prince of all mother F'n Saiyans)

This is my team and we would own those damn frogs lol.
If this sounds crazy blame it on the lack of sleep and coffee!!! :)

anyway....
Happy New Year :) I hope 2014 brings you and your family nothing but success and blessings. Work hard, and move like a champ.

:iconurbanmyth-studios: will be at the Albuquerque Comic Con next weekend. If you're in the area stop by and say what's up.

So I've been catching up on X-Men comics (just finished Avengers/X-Men) and I've been on a full blown X-MEN love fest haha. I grew up a huge Marvel head and even though at times I refuse to read/buy X-books I always come back...eventually. Like pizza even bad X-MEN is good X-MEN lol.
My son has been picking my recent Lil Dude drawings and he asked me who my favorite X-MEN were. I thought it would be a great question for D.A and since I'm usually all serious and shit I thought this might be fun.

Picking my favorite X-Men is almost impossible (because it's easier to pick who I don't like). I will tell you I am a bigger fan of the outlaw on the run version of X-Men than the whole lets turn Marvel's deadliest killer and make him a school teacher X-MEN.

Here's my squad (it's big, because I couldn't eliminate anyone):

- Storm (mohawk, punk rock version that will stab you).
- Forge (this dude would be awesome on your team).
- Gambit (his skill set lends itself to being on the run).
- Domino (her luck will save your ass).
- Rogue (she's tough and will kick your ass).
- Psylocke (she's a freaking ninja with brain swords).
- Wolverine (the berserker that's just barely holding it together, plus I like the dynamic between him and Gambit).
- Cannonball (he took out Gladiator, no other reason needed, plus he's the kid brother of the group just imagine the shit Gambit or Domino would get him into).
- Magic (she's badass and if you piss her off she'll dump your ass in hell).

Who do you got?

p.s. my favorite X-Men is Cyclops or Havok or Wolverine or Colossus or Storm.....or maybe Cable or Archangel.....or Beast.

I can't believe Christmas is only days away. It just completely crept up on me this year. I've had my head in the sand for the last few weeks and only now am I looking up. Still need to lock down a few presents for my little ones and the wife. I hope you all get to enjoy a few days off and relax with your friends, family and loved ones. I'm going to use my free time to catch up on some art projects; a collab I've dragged ass on, and inking some new pages. What are you guys going to be up to?

I'm very motivated to wrap this year up. 2012 has been a great year of personal growth and revelation for me (w/ most of it being painful lol), having said that I can't say I'm not happy to welcome 2013. I was fortunate enough to get offered an opportunity that is a game changer for my family and me. I had been feeling stagnate professionally and was praying that if there was a better place for me to hang my hat that God would make it happen, less than two weeks later I got approached with an amazing offer. I was so blown away that I teared up and got a little emotional, God is good. I have to admit that I do have some fear about leaving a place I've been for almost 11 years. Ultimately I have greater faith and a curiosity about my new challenges and adventures. As a former merchant I used to work with would say,"you can't shit like an elephant if you eat like a mouse" haha :). Say a prayer for me, or cross your fingers lol, what ever your thing is just know I'll appreciate it.

Hope you have a blessed time.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
